Hog Roast Ilminster – A 50th Birthday Celebration at The Cider Barn

For one lucky guest of honour in Ilminster, their 50th birthday party at The Cider Barn was all of that and more – complete with a spectacular fireworks finale to round off the evening! And making sure the feast matched the occasion was Hog Roast Ilminster, with Catering Manager Alistair and his team serving up the ever-popular Alfresco Menu.
Guests were welcomed to their tables with rustic antipasti platters, served Hog Roast Ilminsterdirectly by the Hog Roast team. These boards looked incredible, filled with a handpicked selection of fine Italian meats such as prosciutto, Parma ham, and salami, paired with artisan cheeses like buffalo mozzarella, Parmigiano, and Gorgonzola. Alongside, baskets of herb focaccia, ciabatta, and breadsticks were served with olive oil and balsamic for dipping – a relaxed, sociable way to start the meal that got everyone chatting and sharing straight away.
The main course was a showstopper: a whole roasted free-range pig carved and served with crispy crackling, sage and onion stuffing, and apple sauce. This classic hog roast never fails to impress, and it was beautifully complemented with freshly baked rolls and wraps, seasonal salads, gourmet coleslaw, and roasted new potatoes. For vegetarian and vegan guests, Alistair’s team went above and beyond, serving both grilled vegetable skewers and a rich pulled jackfruit option in soft buns with crunchy slaw. No one was left out, and the variety meant there was something for every palate.
And of course, no birthday feast is complete without dessert. Guests tucked into profiteroles and cheesecake, both served with cream, bringing a sweet end to a delicious dinner.
The evening ended in style with fireworks lighting up the skies over Ilminster – a truly fitting way to celebrate such a special birthday.
