Birthdays only come around once a year so you’ve got every reason to make them unforgettable. That was certainly the case for our latest client Theresa, who decided that this year’s celebration was going to be a big one in every way. And honestly? What. A. Party!
Her plan was to throw a full-on birthday bash on Headley Lane on the 29th of November, gathering 70 of her favourite people to celebrate another trip around the sun. Her secret weapon? Hog Roast Bristol, of course, who she trusted to take care of the food so she could focus on the fun.
Long before guests had even thought about arriving, our catering manager, Alistair, rolled in and got to work on the menu. The feast was a big one, so he started with the stars of the show – pre-marinated meats that already smelled good enough to make anyone weak at the knees. Cajun-spiced whole chickens, sticky Louisiana pork ribs and minted lamb all went onto the roaster, filling the air with that irresistible smoky aroma that makes people drool.
While the meat roasted to that perfect melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, Alistair sorted out the rest of the spread. Corn cobettes glistening with melted butter, chafing dishes of piping hot new potatoes, bowls of crunchy homemade coleslaw and baskets of both wholemeal and gluten-free rolls were laid out with care. He even fired up the grill for a batch of sausages that sizzled away until just moments before the first guests arrived.
By the time everyone burst through the door with that “party mode activated” buzz, Hog Roast Bristol’s buffet table looked absolutely incredible. Plates were grabbed in a flash, decisions were made, and before we knew it people were piling up favourites with big smiles. Even the sauces became talking points – our sweet BBQ glaze was a hit, the Hickory Bourbon sauce added a cheeky warmth, and the Cajun hot pepper sauce became something of a dare among the braver guests.
Theresa couldn’t have been happier. Her friends were laughing, eating and going back for seconds… and thirds! The atmosphere was warm, the food was a hit and the birthday glow was very real.
