Bring Glastonbury Home With A Little Help From Hog Roast Frome

In addition to being the UK’s cider capital, Somerset is famous for its contributions to the music scene via the legendary Glastonbury Festival. If you don’t know, this 5-day performing arts celebration first took the country by storm back in 1970, and since then, it has gone ahead almost annually – with the unique exception, of course, being 2020, and now, 2021.

For music lovers all over Britain, the cancellation of their favourite summer festival for the second year running has been a hard pill to swallow. And, as such, some super fans have even resorted to taking matters into their own hands.

Take Gary and Lucy, for instance. As devout festival-goers, the pair were gutted when the news broke earlier this year that, once again, the celebration wouldn’t be going ahead. So, instead, they rolled up their sleeves and set to work preparing their back garden for a long weekend of fun.

From teepee tents and colourful bunting to LED signs, fairy lights and a sweet set list, the duo managed to transform their cosy garden space into a miniature Glastonbury. They had even gone to the trouble of building their own backyard bar, which they kitted out with – yes, you guessed it – cider! But knowing that their homemade festival just wouldn’t be complete without some delicious snacks to dig into, the pair got in touch with Hog Roast Frome to organise a booking.

Happy to help out, Hog Roast Frome’s catering manager, Alistair, quickly started making suggestions that he felt best fit with the rustic, outdoor festival vibe that the couple was going for, and,  in the end, our Southern Slow Roast Menu won out.

Hog Roast FromeOn the Saturday and Sunday that we had been booked to cater, Hog Roast Frome whipped up a fabulous feast of BBQ pork butt, Texan 24 hour beef brisket and cajun spiced whole roast chickens with a variety of luscious salad sides, Memphis style crunchy coleslaw and corn on the cob, which the team carefully packaged and dropped off at the client’s home just in time for their celebrations to commence.

We’re ecstatic to announce that the pair had a fabulous time, and according to them, their small number of guests had plenty of compliments to share – especially about the food!
