For Wedding Catering That Reflects You, Choose Hog Roast Yeovil!

Hog Roast YeovilIf you ask anyone at Hog Roast Yeovil what wedding season feels like, you’ll usually get the same answer: a bit hectic, slightly muddy underfoot (depending on the venue), but genuinely one of the best times of year to be doing what we do.

There’s a rhythm to it once things get going. Vans are packed early, lists get double-checked more times than anyone would admit, and there’s a buzz among the team as we trundle off to our next booking. And once we arrive on site, everything amps up.

One of our more recent weddings on 16th May was a perfect example of how those days tend to unfold. Around 100 guests, a lovely couple who felt super relaxed knowing their catering was in Hog Roast Yeovil’s hands, and a clear plan: keep everyone well fed without turning dinner into a formal affair.

We brought along our hog roast setup and got to work early. There’s something quite satisfying about the prep stage – getting the pork ready, scoring the skin, rubbing in salt, and just letting time do its thing. No shortcuts, no rushing it. The key to a perfect hog roast is in the patience.

As it slowly cooked, the smell started drifting out and doing its usual job of drawing people in. You can always tell when guests start arriving near serving time because conversations begin to pause mid-sentence and people suddenly look more interested in where the food is than where they’re standing.

When it was ready, we served it up simply: soft rolls, plenty of pulled pork, proper crackling (the bit people fight over without admitting it), sage and onion stuffing, and applesauce on the side. Hog Roast YeovilNothing complicated – just good food that actually works when you’re hungry.

Around the main, there were mixed salads and coleslaw with a zesty kick that made every plate feel full. We also made sure the veggie and vegan guests weren’t left hovering awkwardly with nothing to eat but bread rolls. For them, Hog Roast Yeovil rustled up grilled vegetable skewers with bell peppers, courgettes and onions, which did the job nicely. With optional halloumi for those who wanted it, plus tzatziki dip and flatbreads on the side, this meat-free marvel was every bit as satisfying as the hog roast.

By the time evening rolled in, things had that easy wedding feel where nobody’s checking the time anymore. People were chatting, plates were empty, and the couple looked elated. Which is really what it’s all about: good food, zero stress and a day that just flows.
