Hog roast Gurney Slade have been busy this weekend and we were east at a Christening on Eater Sunday, it was a lovely day and made a nice change to be catering in the nice weather as we are so used to catering in the snow lately! The Christening was for a baby girl and family were travelling from the other side of the world to attend the Christening. We were asked to make a sit down meal and chicken and lamb were the meats requested with the meats we made vegetables and gravy made fresh from the meat juices, the guests were all surprised at the taste of the meat and most had never experienced hog roasting before. Bank Holiday Monday was wonderful we were not expecting the sunshine and we headed west to a surprise party, the gentleman was celebrating his 65th birthday and his family wanted the party to be a surprise and it had been so hard keeping it a secret luckily the Daughter kept us well informed of the arrangements. Hog roast hire Gurney Slade arrived at the venue long before the guests and everything was in place for the gentleman to arrive and he was really surprised, some of the guests he hadn’t seen for over 50 years and there were a few tears when his Daughter said a wonderful moving speech. When the guests sat down to eat the room fell silent as the guests enjoyed succulent pork and we made a large batch of crackling too, potatoes, green beans and parsnip were also made by request along with our wonderful apple sauce we had a chat with the gentleman and he did say that he had once tasted hog roasting many years ago abroad but he did say that our food was much better and we thought that such a great compliment! Next weekend we are heading north for a wedding a large event and catering for eight hundred the wedding has proven to be a bit of a nightmare to arrange as dates have been shuffled back and forth due to the previous venue we were due to cater for closing down but we got there eventually and hope for a wonderful day…
