Earlier this month, we found ourselves back at one of Somerset’s greatest treasures: the Wookey Hole Caves! Dating back millions of years and having been used by humans for more than 45,000 years, these incredible limestone caverns are a truly magical place to be. And whether you’re an avid spelunker or simply want your celebration to stand out, there’s no denying that Wookey Hole is an equally unusual and breath taking landmark venue, which offers guests an experience unlike any other.
Here at Hog Roast Cheddar, we couldn’t be more privileged to have formed a long-term partnership with this very special venue, which means we often get the chance to visit and enjoy the marvellous space for ourselves.
Our most recent visit was booked by Wookey Hole’s wedding and events manager, Lucy, on behalf of Laura and Simon who were the bride and groom on this occasion. To make things easier on the betrothed, Lucy had planned the catering for the couple’s late evening reception based on their preferences and requirements, which led to her choosing our Hog Roast Menu 3 for the occasion.
With 70 people to impress, our catering manager, Alistair and the rest of the Hog Roast Cheddar team had wasted no time in getting everything prepared for the event. And after arriving on-site 6 hours in advance of the serving time, our caterers were welcomed into the colourful restaurant to get the preparations underway.
So as not to take up the main floor or detract from the event in any way, Hog Roast Cheddar had set up the buffet tables all along one wall, which made it easy for the guests to explore the dishes available. For meat-lovers, these options consisted of our signature slow-roasted pork, savoury sage and onion stuffing, crisp and crunchy crackling and applesauce. Meanwhile, BBQ pulled jackfruit rolls were on the menu for vegan and vegetarian guests. We also laid out steaming hot potatoes and a variety of salad options and gluten-free rolls and wraps for everyone to help themselves to.
Laura and Simon were delighted with the exhaustive menu options that Hog Roast Cheddar provided, which kept everyone well-fed and happy until the party came to a close.
