What’s more exciting than one birthday? TWO!
It doesn’t happen very often, does it? But sharing a milestone like that – especially with someone you care about – adds a whole extra layer to the celebration. So when our latest clients decided to mark their 84th and 85th birthdays together, they knew it had to be done properly.
They had everything lined up: a lovely events hall, thoughtful decorations and a guest list of around 80 friends and family ready to celebrate – all that was missing was the food. But lucky for them Hog Roast Chippenham was on hand to help.
After a good chat with our catering manager, Alistair, the hosts settled on something a bit different from our beloved hog roast. They wanted comfort food, but with a bit of flair – something that would get people talking (and going back for seconds) and our Southern Slow Roast ticked all their boxes.
Now, this isn’t your standard buffet.
This menu leans into those bold, slow-cooked flavours you can’t rush. We’re talking: meats that have been marinated for hours, cooked low and steady until they’re packed with flavour and melt-in-the-mouth tender – the kind of food that feels generous, which worked out perfectly for a celebration like this one.
On the day, the spread didn’t disappoint. Hog Roast Chippenham prepared a trio of meaty mains, including Cajun-spiced chicken that brought a gentle heat, Texan-style beef brisket that practically fell apart when sliced and the BBQ pork butt was a standout – rich, smoky, and incredibly succulent. Serving rolls and wraps on the side also meant guests could build their plates however they liked.
Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a few proper sides. Fresh salads, creamy coleslaw, potato salad, and roasted baby potatoes all made an appearance – and didn’t hang around for long. For those feeling a bit adventurous, there were sauces to match: smoky BBQ, a bourbon-infused glaze, and a Cajun kick for anyone brave enough.
And, as always, no one was left out on Hog Roast Chippenham’s watch. We had grilled vegetable kebabs with optional halloumi and BBQ pulled jackfruit sliders soaked in hickory sauce to make sure veggie and vegan guests had just as much to enjoy.
We’re thrilled to say the clients had a wonderful time celebrating, and our food was a smash hit. So, if you’ve got a big birthday coming up, make sure Hog Roast Chippenham is on your invite list.
