September officially kicked off a whole new chapter in Salisbury education, with Chafyn Grove and Godolphin merging into Chafyn Godolphin Prep School – a brand-new all-through school for girls and boys, from nursery right through to sixth form. To mark this landmark moment for the community, the school’s been running open-day events throughout the month and on the 18th of September, Hog Roast Salisbury got our chance to get involved.
Friends of Chafyn Godolphin Prep, a.k.a. the marvellous team behind the school’s social events and fundraising activities, pulled out all the stops to put on a brilliant evening for 214 guests, including 106 children, at the Bourne Avenue campus after school hours, and they asked us to handle the cooking. Needless to say, we were honoured to get an invite.
Catering for an all-ages crowd is always a fun challenge to tackle. Kids want quick, tasty fuel so they can get straight back to running around with their mates, while the adults are looking forward to sitting down, chatting and enjoying something a bit more grown-up. So our team worked hard to make sure

both ends of the appetite spectrum were properly covered.
For the adults, a whole hog roast fit the bill perfectly. Whether packed onto rolls with applesauce and stuffing or enjoyed deconstructed alongside gourmet coleslaw and green leaf salad, our
signature dish went down a treat with everyone who tried it. Then there were the grilled vegetable kebabs (halloumi optional) with tzatziki dip, plus vegan pulled jackfruit burgers for the non-meat-eaters in the crowd.
As for winning over the kids, Hog Roast Salisbury went with a reliable favourite: Frankfurter sausages, served hot dog style on finger buns with fried onions for a bit of extra flavour. Honestly, we couldn’t believe how quickly they vanished – and the parents seemed pleasantly surprised their little ones still found room for the side salads too.
We had a genuinely brilliant evening with Chafyn Godolphin Prep and can’t thank the team enough for trusting Hog Roast Salisbury with such a special occasion. If you ever need us to bring something delicious to your event, you only have to ask
