If you’ve ever pictured a fairytale-style wedding – the kind with sweeping countryside views and a grand old house in the background – then North Cadbury Court is exactly the sort of place you’ll love.
Hidden away in the Somerset countryside and surrounded by roughly 1,500 acres of greenery, it’s the kind of venue that makes guests stop and say “wow” the moment they arrive. But it’s not all formal gardens and fancy architecture. One of the best things about the estate is that it’s designed for proper, relaxed celebrations and with space for 82 guests to stay overnight, weddings here often turn into full weekend get-togethers rather than a single-day event.
And there’s plenty to keep everyone busy, too. Think: rooftop golf, tennis, pedalos and even a secret basement disco and casino. That’s exactly why our latest clients chose this venue for their big day – and like many couples, they decided to make the most of it by starting the celebrations early.
They organised a relaxed welcome feast the evening before their big day, inviting around 70 of their closest friends and family to gather, catch up and settle into the weekend ahead. To help make the magic happen, they called in our team from Hog Roast Yeovil.
We arrived early in the afternoon to get everything set up ahead of the 6pm serving time. The couple had chosen a traditional hog roast for the menu, which meant one thing for our team: plenty of slow cooking and a lot of patience while the hog did its thing.
After hours of roasting over a low flame the results were out of this world. The crackling had turned beautifully golden and crisp, while the meat underneath stayed juicy and full of flavour.
Hog Roast Yeovil served the pulled pork in soft floury buns with sage and onion stuffing and homemade applesauce. Alongside it, guests could help themselves to tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed leaves, creamy coleslaw and big portions of both classic and sweet potato fries with plenty of salt, vinegar and Sauce Shop sauces.
For vegetarian and vegan guests, Hog Roast Yeovil also prepared our special pulled jackfruit in a smoky hickory sauce, served in buns just like the pork.
By the end of the evening, plates were empty, people were chatting away happily and the excitement for the wedding day ahead had definitely kicked up a notch – which, really, is exactly what a welcome feast should do.
