One thing couples often say when they first speak to Hog Roast Yeovil about their wedding is that they want the day to feel like them. Not a copy-and-paste celebration, not something that feels forced – just a day that reflects their personalities, their style and the way they like to celebrate. And that includes the food.
Some couples picture a classic wedding meal. You know the sort: elegant canapés making the rounds while guests arrive, glasses of something bubbly to ease the nerves, followed by a plated dinner and a carefully presented dessert – it’s timeless and always goes down well.
Others lean in the opposite direction. They want something a little more relaxed. Less formal, more sociable. Food that people can enjoy while chatting, wandering around, and helping themselves to seconds without feeling awkward about it.
That’s why flexibility is such a big part of what we do. Weddings come in all shapes and sizes, and Hog Roast Yeovil has built up a range of menus to match. And if a couple comes to us with an idea that isn’t already on the list? We’re always happy to build something from scratch.
At a recent wedding we catered, though, the decision came pretty quickly. The couple had their hearts set on our Gourmet BBQ spread, and once you see what’s included, it’s not hard to understand why.
Instead of a single main course, the BBQ offers a proper mix of favourites hot off the grill. At this particular celebration, around 50 guests made their way through handmade British beef burgers, Thai-style chicken kebabs, gourmet sausages and sticky spareribs. A few people got creative too, piling everything into wholemeal or gluten-free baps with melted cheese and fried onions.
The non-meat eaters certainly weren’t left standing around with nothing to munch on either. Veggie burgers and vegetarian sausages were joined by colourful grilled vegetable kebabs, complete with optional halloumi chunks and tzatziki. BBQ pulled jackfruit buns also proved surprisingly popular – even with a few of the meat-eaters.
On the side, Hog Roast Yeovil served bowls of fresh green leaf salad, creamy coleslaw and generous trays of mixed sweet potato and classic fries, ready for a splash of vinegar or a generous squeeze of sauce.
Needless to say, guests didn’t hold back when it came to second helpings.
By the end of the evening the couple were thrilled with how everything had gone, and Hog Roast Yeovil was just happy to have played our part in a day that felt completely their own.
