With no more restrictions to worry about, Hog Roast Backwell’s caterers have been extremely busy as of late (especially now that wedding season has reached its peak!), which has seen us travel here, there and everywhere with the aim of helping Somerset’s loved-up couples celebrate the biggest days of their lives with one of our delish spit-roasted pigs! But while many events have seen us travel further afield recently, we were able to spend the first Saturday in August a lot closer to home…
Planning to get hitched and celebrate their reception at Backwell Bow’s famous Brook Farm, bride and groom Hayley and Jack had asked us to serve one of our mouth-watering menus at their wedding reception, which they told us was scheduled to take place well into the evening, so they wanted a meal hot enough to keep the guests from feeling chilly. Their wedding party consisted of 100 people and included a small portion of vegetarian guests too, so they had also been looking for something that was both simple and delicious that would suit everyone’s tastes. Our Classic Hog Roast Menu was perfect for the job, and what’s more, it was well within the couple’s budget, which the pair were delighted by!
With the serving time scheduled for 9 pm on the evening of the wedding, Hog Roast Backwell had all day to prepare themselves for the feast, which they cooked with ease using one of our trusty HogMaster slow-roasting machines, and while the meat slowly sizzled and spat it’s way to fork-tender perfection, our catering manager, Alistair laid out the wooden crockery beside a towering bowl of gluten-free rolls before going on to whip up some refreshing side salads, warm new potatoes and grilled vegetable skewers with the choice of Greek halloumi cheese.
By the time the guests had arrived and were ready to eat, the pig was beautifully tender with a deliciously crispy exterior, and the stuffing and applesauce helped to bring out the rich flavours of the succulent meat. Once again, Hog Roast Backwell had done a wonderful job, and the newlyweds were pleased with the attention to detail that had gone into every aspect of the menu.
